It consists of small stakes with a floral attractant at the top, along with electrodes where the deer gets a mild shock when sniffing the attractant. It really worked in my yard, where I had a serious deer problem. For use by a farm, you'd have to use them every ten feet or so, so you'd use a lot of them, but a $10 device ever 10 feet is still cheaper than a conventional fence.
